Even though there is a plethora of legitimate home internet businesses that you can become involved with, most of them fit into one or more of the three internet business types listed below;

Affiliate Sales - In which you promote the products or services of other online merchants and receive a commission based on the amount of sales or leads that you drive to them. You can make a living doing nothing but affiliate sales.

Reseller - In which you actually sell other companies' products. In this scenario, you purchase items from your supplier(s) at wholesale and sell them to your customers for a profit. In many cases you have the option to either stock and ship items yourself or have your suppliers handle that for you through a process called drop-shipping.

Sell Your Own Product - In which you design, create, market, stock and ship your own product or service.

Each of these business types has it's benefits and drawbacks. You may concentrate on just one of these business types or combine all three if you feel up to it. It is possible to run any of these businesses using only email marketing and newsletters, but I would strongly advise against it. For best results, you should really establish a web presence with one or more web sites. For an internet marketing novice who does not have an existing product ready to sell, I highly recommend that you start your internet business by promoting affiliate programs. This is by far the least costly and least stressful internet business method to start with. Because of this fact, the rest of this tutorial will focus on starting an internet business that is concentrated around affiliate sales, although the sections on internet business basics will apply to any type of internet business. Once you get the hang of things, you may decide to broaden your horizons by giving the resellers or sellers market a whirl.
