Join Affiliate Programs

Your internet business web site has launched and you're now ready to join affiliate programs. Hopefully, you have a nice list of potential candidates that you've already located and screened. Also, you should have a good idea of how you will incorporate each affiliate program into the pages of your content-rich web site.

If your list of affiliate programs is still very large, you may want to weed out some more of them now. When you're ready, start with the programs you have ranked the highest and work your way down from there. As you join, some affiliate programs will accept you immediately while others will want to review your web site before making their decision. The time it takes to review your site and let you know whether or not you've been accepted is different with each merchant. If it takes more than a couple of days for a merchant to get back to you, then that could be the first indication of things to come.

If you are applying to affiliate programs outside one of the affiliate networks, make sure you keep track of where you have been accepted and where you have pending applications. If you don't keep track, you may end up applying to the same affiliate program more than once. You don't have to worry as much about pending applications in the networks because those should be automatically tracked by your account. You will be notified as each program accepts or rejects you.

As you are accepted by each affiliate program, begin adding their affiliate links to your web site. If you can, start out with the affiliate programs you stand to gain the most from. Some merchants will tell you which links and link types convert the best. Pay attention to each merchant's advice and implement those links as long as they jive with your web site. Most often, individual product links convert the best, especially if your content-rich site gives those products excellent reviews.

Continue to promote your web site.

  • Submit your site to search engines and directories manually, never use the automated services.
  • Continue gathering relevant back links from other web sites.
  • Join forums associated with your niche and make sure you list the link to your web site with each forum posting.
  • Once the search engines spider your site, improve your search engine rankings by continuing to add relevant content, on a daily basis if possible.
Most of all, don't get discouraged and don't give up. Traffic usually does not appear overnight, you have to give it some time. If you keep working at it, you'll see a sale or two appear in your daily statistics, then a few more and a few more, and before you know it, you'll have a steady stream of affiliate sales coming in.

If you continue to research niches and build new web sites as you go along, who knows? You could be the next to earn the rank of super affiliate.
